The Change.org petition advocating for his removal has gathered 30,000 signatures after being shared by former Disney Imagineers. While the petition’s explanations aren’t entirely apparent, and not everyone agrees with the majority of the declaration, it’s clear that Chapek and his regime’s policies are unpopular.

The petition, which was released a year ago, lays accusations that Chapek has “consistently put himself and money above the product, and quality of the company,” and notes the 28,000 Disney Parks cast member layoffs since the outbreak of COVID-19, as well as the reinstatement of executive bonuses. The article also mentions inadequate park maintenance, alleging that Chapek has shifted his focus to Disney+, which he describes as “the current big money maker.” We just learned that his decision to move the great majority of Walt Disney Imagineering to Lake Nona, Florida has resulted in a significant loss in morale, with many Imagineers preferring to leave the firm rather than uproot their lives in California.

As of the publishing of this article, neither Disney nor Chapek has responded to the petition.
