Guests Trapped Across EPCOT and Magic Kingdom as New Year’s Eve Crowds Overwhelm Disney Parks

As expected, New Year’s Eve once again brought massive crowds to Walt Disney World Resort, marking one of the busiest nights of the year across property. Magic Kingdom and EPCOT both reached capacity early in the evening, with guests reporting extremely limited mobility in high-traffic areas.

While Disney promoted special entertainment offerings such as DJ dance parties and midnight fireworks, many guests noted that the experience felt largely unchanged from previous years, aside from increased congestion. Fireworks viewing areas filled hours in advance, and several guests reported being turned away from prime locations well before showtime.

Transportation delays were a major issue, particularly with the Skyliner system and resort bus loops. Wait times stretched well beyond posted estimates, leaving many guests stuck traveling long after midnight.

Despite the challenges, Disney did not offer any ticketed or reserved New Year’s Eve experiences, instead relying on standard park admission and crowd control procedures. For many longtime visitors, this raised questions about whether Disney should rethink how it manages one of the most demanding nights of the year.

As holiday crowds begin to decline in early January, guests visiting in the coming weeks should see significantly lower wait times and improved park flow. However, New Year’s Eve once again proved that Disney’s most popular dates remain difficult to navigate, even for experienced parkgoers.
